Matthew 24:15-21 definition of “Judea”

I have been puzzled about why Jesus tells only the folks in Judea to “flee to the mountains” when the temple is desecrated by the abomination of desolation.  It seemed like all believers in Jesus would be wanting to hide as well, no matter where they are at the time.

Then I thought, I wonder what the word “Judea” means in the original text.  So I looked it up in the Blue Letter Bible.  Here’s what it said:

Judaea = “he shall be praised” Genesis 29:35 “She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah.[fn] Then she stopped having children.”

So now I wonder if Jesus was telling all those who sincerely praise God should flee to the hills because the antichrist organization will be hunting them down.
