Is this the “time of the end”?

How do we know it’s the time of the end? In Daniel 12:4 it tells us we can know it’s the “time of the end” by observing two things: “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

Daniel says there are 2 ways to know we are near the end of this world: (1) “many shall run to and fro” and (2)”knowledge shall be increased”.

Is society as a whole “running to and fro”? Today we undoubtedly have unrivaled global travel. According to Forbes, in 2017 there were 4 billion people that traveled via airlines. Travel is what most of us do without even thinking of the implications of it. Jet setters and jet lag become the norm for most people as we continually move at a fast pace around the globe.

As I’m typing this there is a current pandemic of the virus COVID-19. This virus is thought to have began in the city of Wuhan, China. This virus quickly spread across the globe because of our necessity of fast paced traveling around the world. Our travel habits have brought this virus quickly to other countries across the globe. Travel is not the enemy nor is it evil in of itself. However, based on the scripture in Daniel of “running to and fro”, God could be giving us a wake up call. The Coronavirus panic could be an exact representation of God giving us a heads up in warning us that the time of the end is either approaching or already here.

All the way from the beginning of time, through Bible times until only 120 years ago we have had the same way of travel. Globally we are definitely “running to and fro”. If it wasn’t for our running to and fro would we have the spread of the Coronavirus? Probably not. Is this God’s way of telling us to pay attention to Daniel 12:24? Possibly.
