MID-TRIBULATION (PART 3)

The 2nd half of the tribulation will be a time of severe persecution. This period of time will last for “time and times and the dividing of time”:

“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” (Daniel 7:25)

The Hebrew word for “time” is “mô‛êd”, which also can mean “a year”.

  • Nearly every commentator who analyzes Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy agrees that “time and times and the dividing of time” means 3 ½ years.
  • The 2nd half of the 70th week of Daniel is 3.5 years long, so a prophetic week is a 7-year period.

God’s Protection for His children

Revelation 12:6 talks about a safe place, a place where the Jews flee and where God protects them for the second half of the tribulation period. The “woman” in Revelation 12:6 represents Israel or more specifically the Jews.

Revelation 12:6
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

“a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”  Score means 20 so this would be a span of time equal to 1260 days.

If the 144,000 Jews are the ones that wound the Vatican, UNHolySee Beast, then this may be when they flee to the “safe place” that God has prepared for them.

Because of this “wound” to the UNHolySee Beast, many people might turn their hearts toward God.

This place of protection could be Petra in Jordan.

It’s possible that after the wound to the UNHolySee Beast, the Jews may be called terrorists.  The antichrist, possessed by Satan, will try and stop the Jews in some way.  Revelation 12:14 says that the woman, another name for Israel, was given “two wings of a great eagle”.  This may be an indication of the United States helping Israel by providing aircraft for them to be taken to safety.

Revelation 12:14 also says Israel will be taken care of for “a time, and times, and half a time”.  “Time” has meant one year in other books of the Bible.  “Times” meaning two years.  If this is the case then Israel will be taken care of by God for three and a half years, or the remainder of the tribulation.

Revelation 12:14
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 12:15
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

The Abomination of Desolation

2 Thessalonians tells us around midway through the tribulation the antichrist will sit in the temple of God and show himself that he is God.  It’s possible that he will sit on a throne of some sort.  There are lots of religions that use thrones to show authority in their faith.  One of these is the Catholic church in which a throne is used for bishops to show their authority in the church.

2 Thessalonians 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

A see (from the Latin word meaning seat) is the throne (cathedra) of a bishop.

A cathedra is the chair or throne of a bishop. It is a symbol of the bishop’s teaching authority in the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, the Anglican Communion and in Lutheran churches. A church into which a bishop’s official cathedra is installed is called a cathedral.  The traditional position of the cathedra was behind the high altar.

Midway through the tribulation someone will stop the sacrifices.

Daniel 9:27: …and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

In the middle of the 7 years, a person from the antichrist’s organization will stop sacrifices. This will be who the “he” is that is talked about in Daniel 9:27.  This person will also “desolate” the temple.  This “abomination of desolation” is also talked about by Jesus in Matthew and in Mark.

Jesus tells those listening that when the abomination of desolation happens sometime in the future, then they that are in Judaea should flee to the mountains.

Matthew 24:15

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)

Mark 13:14

But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

I’m not sure what the abominations will be.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:15 that the abomination of desolation will STAND in the holy place.  This may be a person or it could be a piece of technology such as a computer or TV screen.

What is the “abomination of desolation”?

It’s possible that in retaliation of wounding the UNHolySee Beast, either the antichrist or the Holy See Secretary of State decides to desecrate the temple in Jerusalem or where ever it is located at the time.

This “abomination of desolation is talked about in Daniel and Jesus mentions it in the book of Matthew. The verse in Daniel is difficult to understand.  But it is talking about the antichrist and how “he shall confirm the covenant”.  The covenant will be some type of agreement with the UNHolySee Beast and “many” for seven years.  Where Daniel says “one week”, it means one week of years.  This equals out to seven years.  The signing of the covenant will actually begin the tribulation week.

In the “midst of the week” the antichrist will stop all sacrifices and offerings.  So midway through the tribulation, the antichrist will cause all sacrifices to end.  Daniel says the antichrist will then desecrate the temple.  Desecration means that some type of abomination to Christ will be placed in the temple, possibly on the altar.

This abomination to Christ could be the throne of the antichrist.  Or if the antichrist was killed by the Jews then it could be that an image of the antichrist is placed on the altar.

Daniel 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Here are some definitions of abomination:

  1. abomination — (a person who is loathsome or disgusting)
    2. abhorrence, abomination, detestation, execration, loathing, odium — (hate coupled with disgust)
    3. abomination — (an action that is vicious or vile; an action that arouses disgust or abhorence; “his treatment of the children is an abomination”)

Here are some definitions of desolation:

  1. devastation, desolation — (the state of being decayed or destroyed)
    2. bleakness, desolation — (a bleak and desolate atmosphere)
    3. forlornness, loneliness, desolation — (sadness resulting from being forsaken or abandoned)
    4. devastation, desolation — (an event that results in total destruction)

Jesus also mentions the abomination of desolation in Matthew 24:15-21.  If you are here during this time of abomination of desolation and you see this happening, Jesus says to flee to the mountains.  Don’t take the time to go back to you house for ANYTHING.  Jesus will take care of you, just go.
Matthew 24:15-21

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)  16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:  17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:  18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.  19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!  20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:  21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Daniel 12:11 tells us that the time that will remain after the abomination of desolation will be 1290 days.  Stay alive till then end of the tribulation and the time of Christ’s coming back and you will be able to walk alive into the 1000 year Millennium.

Daniel 12:11
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Here are some verses that talk about the “abomination of desolation”.

Daniel 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Daniel 11:31
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
Daniel 12:11
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Mark 13:14
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
